ACROBAT PDF HELP
Our web site frequently uses documents in the PDF format which can be downloaded or viewed.
When you try to view a Portable Document Format (PDF) file in Internet Explorer, you may see a blank window or frame instead of the PDF file. This may occur even though you have installed the Adobe Acrobat Reader program, and you are normally able to view PDF files in that program.
- If you are experiencing problems opening the PDF files, please review the following solutions.
Make sure you have a recent version of Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer. You need version 4.0 or later. The current version is 8.0. You can download a free Adobe Reader application at:
 http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
- If you have Acrobat installed, and are still experiencing trouble downloading the PDF files, your security settings may be preventing you from opening the file. (See the following explanation and solution.)
Security Settings: ActiveX Controls and Plugins
If your browser Security Settings has ‘Run ActiveX controls and plugins’ set to ‘Disable’, you will not be able to directly launch Acrobat and the chosen PDF file. However, you can alternatively save the file to your hard drive first.
Saving the file to your local PC can normally be accomplished as follows:
- Right click on the title link (for Mac users, try Ctrl + click).
- Select "Save Target As" (Internet Explorer) or "Save Link As" (Netscape) when presented with a menu. (If your mouse is configured for left handed operation use the left mouse button.)
- In the "Save As" dialog box, select a location on your hard drive to save the file.
- Click "Save."
- In the Download Complete dialog box, click "Open" to view your file in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Or, later you can use Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the file directly after downloading.
